Straight Into Darkness - Faye Kellerman

"If you are a fan of Kellerman, you will enjoy this work; if you haven’t discovered this author yet you’d be better off trying one of her other books."

Maybe I should have. The setting in just prewar Munich was excellent, but the main character never became real for me, and there were too many similarly named characters of whom in the end I lost track.

The Complete Roderick - John Sladek

I liked the intelligence, but I couldn't get on with the unreal reality in which the story is set.

The Broken World - Tim Etchells

I couldn't care less about computer games, and I couldn't get into this.

The Steep Approach to Garbadale - Iain Banks

http://www.iain-banks.net/fiction/the-steep-approach-to-garbadale/

As might be expected this is a very well written book, however not much happens and despite the twist in the tail, I found it somehow unsatisfying.

The Ruffian on the Stair - Gary Newman

http://www.constablerobinson.com/?section=books&book=the_ruffian_on_the_stair_9781845296377_hardback

I managed to get to the end of this, but it isn't worth the effort.  An historic mystery leaves a plethora of unlikely soluable clues in the present. A hero with an unbelievable affliction. A daft crime in the present.

Falling - John Connor

Entertaining thriller made more interesting by being set in West Yorkshire.
